Functional skills for pianists demonstrates a structured approach to teaching harmonization at the keyboard. Many classically-trained musicians feel deficient in this arena, and are, therefore, reluctant to attempt to teach it. This session will also include tips for playing worship music from lead sheets.

We will welcome new members and introduce our new board members, programs, events, and other interests for the year.  We will have updates from the board members and an opportunity for our general members to ask questions and voice concerns.

Graff has given lecture-recitals and master classes at the Gina Bachauer, Bar Harbor, and Aloha International Piano Festivals, MTNA and numerous colleges. Dr. Graff is a full-time professor at Converse University’s Petrie School of Music, having previously taught at Hunter College, Macaulay Honors College and the CUNY Graduate Center.

We hold Ensemble recitals to help showcase all levels of students, a variety of instruments combinations providing performance opportunities for students and/or teachers to collaborate together.
This is a fun annual event designed to raise money for the Louise Mathis Scholarships, and a wonderful way for teachers and students to come together to share music.

In addition to her performing activities Lisa Kiser is one of South Carolina’s most sought after private teachers. Her students have been presented in and won numerous local and international piano competitions and have played with the Carolina Youth Symphony and the Clemson University Symphony Orchestra.

The recital is held the day after the auditions and will feature the First, Second and Honorable Mention recipients in each of the three divisions. Each performer will share a single selection of their choice for the Recital. All are welcome to come and enjoy the accomplishments of these young artists.

Dr. Masterson's most recent research project involves the piano music of Philippa Schuyler. Her recording of Schuyler's "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" will be released on April 1, 2022 on Centaur Records, and her article "Lawrence in America: Philippa Duke Schuyler's Seven Pillars of Wisdom" appeared in the Winter 2022 edition of the Journal of the IAWM.
